Barrel bushing replacment style compensator. The design is contoured to mimic the front of the slide, and give the appearance of having an extended slide. The bushing ID. Is .583″ +-.0005″. In general, this part is machined to fit any 1911 stock or clone pistol that has a barrel OD. between .577″-581″.
A bushing compensator, being large enough to fit over the barrel, lets that gas go all around and past the bullet, thus not directing it upward. Equal-opposite and all that, when gas is forced into the upward ports of a compensator, the barrel is forced downward to reduce climb. All Bushing Compensators are threaded .575x40. Made of either 4140 Carbon Steel in the white or 416 Stainless Steel. Coned comps fit on standard size barrels that can be or are threaded. The barrel bushing will be removed and replace by the cone of the comp. Reverse plug will need to be added. Cone will be oversize.. It's a matter of consistency in the lock up. An out of the box 1911 will not benefit from a fitted barrel bushing in accuracy tests at 50 yards. The barrels consistent lock up is made up of the fit of the barrel and bushing, the barrel lower lugs and the slide stop, the barrel upper lugs and the slide lugs, and the barrel hood and the slide.
