A bushing compensator, being large enough to fit over the barrel, lets that gas go all around and past the bullet, thus not directing it upward. Equal-opposite and all that, when gas is forced into the upward ports of a compensator, the barrel is forced downward to reduce climb. This is our most popular compensator that we use on the Pro SX. The TC2 Bull has an overall length of 2.122" and weighs 2.8 oz. The TC2 2 Cone has an overall length of 1.847" (without the cone) and weighs 3.0 oz. The Thundercomp 3 has four up ports. This is our heaviest and longest compensator.

The barrel bushing will be removed and replace by the cone of the comp. Reverse plug will need to be added. Cone will be oversize.. In comparison to an integral (with barrel) compensator, the benefits are marginal. It is inaccurate to say "zero benefit"; but it is equally inaccurate to tout any great benefit. Even a well-engineered integral barrel/comp has only so much benefit with a 1911 chambered in 45acp.

An out of the box 1911 will not benefit from a fitted barrel bushing in accuracy tests at 50 yards. The barrels consistent lock up is made up of the fit of the barrel and bushing, the barrel lower lugs and the slide stop, the barrel upper lugs and the slide lugs, and the barrel hood and the slide.
